What are between-session reflections?
Between-session reflections offer a dedicated space to capture and process your thoughts from one appointment to the next. Whether you're celebrating a win, working through a challenge, or simply organizing your thoughts, this tool helps you identify meaningful topics to bring into your next session.
After each session, a reflection prompt will appear in your client portal. Based on your response, you'll receive suggested topics to help guide your next conversation with your provider. You can choose to share these topics with your provider or keep them private.
Why should I use between-session reflections?
Engaging in between-session reflections can enhance your therapy experience by helping you:
Capture important thoughts. Jot down anything that surfaces between appointments so nothing gets lost.
Stay engaged in your therapy journey. Remain connected to your goals and progress, even outside of session time.
Feel more prepared and focused. Enter sessions with a clearer sense of what you want to discuss, which boosts confidence and emotional readiness.
Take ownership of your progress. Reflect in your own words, on your own schedule. Your insights shape the conversation.
How do I use between-session reflections?
Access from your client portal dashboard
After your first appointment, a reflection prompt will appear in the "My tasks" section of your client portal dashboard. To get started:
Select the Identify session topics link in your tasks.
Select a prompt that fits how you would like to reflect, or choose Let my thoughts flow for a free-form option.
Enter your thoughts in the text field, then click Save in the top right.
Based on your response, you will receive a list of AI-generated topics to review.
Decide what to share. Select Share topics with provider to make them visible to your provider, or click Don't share topics to keep them private.
Topics you choose to share will be visible in-session.
Access from the therapy toolkit dashboard
If a reflection prompt is no longer visible in your tasks, you can still access the feature at any time. Click Therapy toolkit in the left-side menu, then select Share what’s top of mind under the "Support for your next session" section.
🌟 Note: After each session, you may also receive an email or text reminder with a Review session topics link. This opens the same reflections tool directly.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use this feature? No, it's entirely optional. Use it if and when it feels helpful for you.
Can I turn off the email and text reminders? No, notifications are sent automatically after each session to encourage reflection. While you can't turn them off, you can choose whether or not to engage with the tool.
Will my provider see everything I write? No, you are in control. Only the topics you choose to share with your provider will be visible to them.
When can I start using between-session reflections? This feature becomes available after your first appointment. You'll receive your first reflection prompt shortly after that session.
Can I use between-session reflections in the iOS mobile app? Yes. If you're a mobile app user, you will receive push notifications inviting you to share your thoughts. You can learn more about using session topics in the app here.
Where can I locate previously submitted topics? From the prompt screen, click See topics in the top right to review historical session topics. You can also view them during sessions by selecting Past topics in the session topics menu.
