During your therapy journey, there may come a time when you need to take a break or change providers. It's normal to feel uncertain about how to address this or where to start. This guide walks you through ending care with your current provider, as well as alternative options like pausing sessions or requesting a rematch.
Key Points:
If you aren't ready to end therapy completely, you can pause care or request a rematch with a new provider.
You can end care by messaging your provider through your client portal. A short, direct message is all that's needed.
If you find it difficult to connect with your provider or feel uncomfortable doing so, you can reach out to the Grow Team for support.
You don't need to delete your account to stop sessions or avoid charges.
Alternatives to ending care
If you're not ready to entirely end care, here are a couple of options that may better fit your current needs:
βΈοΈ Pause care
Need to take a break without making a permanent change? You can request to pause care with your provider. This option is great if you're unsure about next steps or need time to reset. As long as you do not have any upcoming appointments scheduled, you will not be charged during the pause.
π Get rematched with a new provider
Your needs may evolve, and sometimes that means outgrowing your current provider. If your goals have shifted or the connection no longer feels right, you can request a rematch with a new provider. Refer to this article for instructions on how to submit a rematch request.
Ending your care
π¬ Contact your provider
If you feel comfortable, the simplest way to end care is to message your provider directly through your client portal.
Providers understand that needs and circumstances change. If you're unsure how to phrase it, a short message like, "I've decided to take a break from sessions and wanted to let you know," is perfectly okay. Your provider will take it from there.
π Important: You don't have to delete your account to prevent future charges or appointments. Just ending or pausing care with your provider is sufficient to prevent future charges or appointments.
π Contact support
If you are unable to reach your provider or do not feel comfortable ending care with them directly, the Support Team is here to help. Use the Help Widget in your client portal to connect with a representative. They can contact your provider on your behalf or help facilitate the rematching process.
