If you've switched phone numbers, changed authenticator apps, or simply want to clean up your verification methods, this article walks you through removing a method from your account. Keep in mind that you'll need at least one verification method on file at all times β if the option to remove is grayed out, add a new method first, then return to remove the old one.
πTIP: Got a new phone or need to add a backup method? See Add a two-step verification method. To set up two-step verification for the first time, see Enable two-step verification. If you run into issues, visit our two-step verification troubleshooting guide.
Key Points
You must have at least one verification method on your account at all times. If the delete option is grayed out, it's because you only have one method on file β add a new one first, then remove the old one.
You'll need to verify your identity using your current method before making any changes to your security settings.
Steps to remove a verification method
To delete a form of verification from your client portal dashboard:
Select Account from the left navigation menu.
Select the βοΈSettings tab.
Select Edit. You will be asked to verify your account.
Once verified, you will see all the verification methods currently enabled for your account. Locate the verification method you wish to delete, then select the trash icon next to it.
Select Yes, remove to confirm.
A pop-up notification will appear at the bottom of the screen, confirming that the verification method was successfully removed.
