Session topics | Grow telehealth

Learn how between-session reflections (session topics) can help you and your clients identify topics to prioritize during sessions.

Grow Therapy's between-session reflection feature enables clients to focus on topics they want to reflect on after the session, between sessions, and on the day of the session. These features support clients in achieving their goals while enabling providers to arrive at sessions with a deeper understanding and clarity about client needs.

Desktop experience preview

Clients receive their first set of reflections via email after their initial appointment to help prepare topics for their follow-up. Once clients start the session topic experience, they use prompts and journaling afterward to focus on what's top of mind. Preview the client experience below:

Clients are prompted to jot down thoughts

Clients can fully control the topics they share and review past topics, enabling them to track their past concerns and actively participate in their care. Clients can also remove or modify the suggested topics as needed.

iOS Mobile app experience

Clients are prompted to complete session topics via email. Clients with access to the iOS mobile app are also prompted to complete session topics directly in the app.

Between-session reflections (session topics)

When clients chat with Grow's coach, they can request assistance in creating session topics. Additionally, Grow's coach will proactively ask clients whether they would like to create a session topic during longer conversations or in specific situations.

After the topics are created, clients can access them in the therapy toolkit section of the mobile app. Clients can learn more about this functionality in the Grow Therapy Mobile App FAQ.

Provider portal experience


Providers can preview a list of upcoming appointments on their Dashboard under the "Upcoming" section. Selecting an appointment from this section populates a menu of client information, client activity, the client's measures and forms, and preferences. Toggle between the tabs to view this information in detail.

In-session experience


The Grow telehealth meeting room allows both the provider and the client to view topics that the client has shared.

Providers can view the topics shared by accessing the client information card from the telehealth navigation bar and selecting the Client Activity tab.

Client experience

Clients are prompted to review or modify their discussion topics in the Grow telehealth waiting room if they haven't completed them.


Frequently Asked Questions


Will I see the client's topics starting with the first appointment?

No. Clients are not sent between-session reflections until they have completed their first intake appointment.

How are clients prompted to complete these reflections?

Clients receive email notifications and, when enabled, text messages.

How often are clients receiving reminders to complete their session topics?

Clients will receive reminders to complete their reflections or session topics 5 days before an appointment and again 24 hours prior if they have not been finished.


Do my clients have to use this feature?

No. This feature is entirely optional. Clients can learn more about pre-session reflections.

Is this feature available for in-person clients?

Yes. This feature is available to all clients, regardless of their appointment location, excluding minors.


Can I turn this feature off for my clients?

No. This feature cannot be toggled on or off.
