Psychology Today | FAQ

Learn about the Psychology Today marketing offered in your partnership.

Psychology Today is a media organization that focuses on psychology and human behavior, having evolved into a robust marketing resource. The organization and its website enable clients from all over your licensed state(s) to access and schedule with your practice.

Providers have noted that having a Psychology Today profile has helped them increase referrals and meet their goals. Whenever you are accepting new clients, Grow Therapy is happy to sponsor and manage an optional Psychology Today profile on your behalf. It is one of the various high-profile directories on which you are listed as a Grow Therapy provider. You may opt in to a Grow-managed Psychology Today profile here.

Key Takeaways

  • Grow offers a Grow-managed Psychology Today page for all providers actively accepting new clients. Opt-in here.

  • Grow covers the cost of the profile and offers reception services to help providers field inquiries and bookings sourced from the service.

  • As of June 1, 2026, providers must opt in to a Grow-managed Psychology Today profile. Providers who have been on the platform prior to this date may request to opt out of the Grow Psychology Today program.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Below are answers to frequently asked questions about Grow Therapy's partnership with Psychology Today. If your question is not addressed, contact the Support Team using the Help Widget in your provider portal.

Profile Creation

  • What if I already have an account but don't want Grow Therapy to manage it? If you opt in to a Grow-managed Psychology Today profile, Grow will not manage your existing profile but rather create a new one for you. You may have both your existing Psychology Today profile and your new one, if you wish.

Having a dedicated Grow-managed page is recommended but not mandatory. Note that independently managed pages will not receive booking assistance or responses, such as calls and emails, as Grow-managed pages do.

  • How long does creating my Psychology Today profile take? This process takes around 1–2 weeks to complete. Since the Grow Therapy team manually creates each of these profiles and implements marketing strategies to boost referrals, it takes them some time to finalize profiles.

Keeping Your Psychology Today Profile Active

As part of an update to our Psychology Today partnership, Grow will deactivate Psychology Today profiles for providers who are not actively seeing clients or accepting referrals. This allows us to ensure prospective clients seeking care are seeing the Psychology Today profiles of providers who are actively accepting new clients.

Not ready to start taking new clients yet?

We will deactivate your Grow-managed profile until you are ready to begin accepting new clients, at which point your existing profile will be automatically reactivated.

  • How do I keep my Grow Psychology Today profile active? To maintain your Psychology Today profile with Grow, simply turn on your referrals toggle to accept new clients.

    • Grow performs a weekly audit of referral toggle changes to submit to Psychology Today for profile reactivation.

    • No action is required on your part to reactivate your Grow-managed Psychology Today profile once you begin accepting new clients through Grow.

    • You can expect your Grow Psychology Today profile to be reactivated within 10 business days after turning your referrals toggle back on.

Profile Information

  • Why don't you use my contact information for the profile? Providers using the Grow Therapy reception services typically experience a higher client conversion rate.

  • What if I want something changed on my page? Grow will automatically update your Psychology Today profile with the information from your Grow Directory profile. Just make the changes you'd like to see reflected on your Grow provider profile, and we'll update your Psychology Today profile to match within 5–10 business days.

  • What address will be listed and why? Psychology Today no longer allows for the use of virtual addresses. Grow will add the address we have on file with you to your account, but rest assured, unless it is a physical office location, we will automatically hide your address from your profile. Only your city and state will be shown for your address. If you have a physical office location, the location will be displayed. If your location is displayed but you would like it to be hidden, contact our support team.

Profile Engagement

  • Who is reaching out to clients who call or email my profile? Grow Therapy's dedicated new client booking team follows up with prospective clients and ensures they have the correct information and access to schedule with you.

Profile Troubleshooting

  • What if I want to delete my Grow Psychology Today profile? To opt out of the Psychology Today program and delete your profile, complete the opt-out form. This will notify Psychology Today that you would like your profile removed. Note that it may take 1–2 weeks for this to occur.

  • Why does my Psychology Today profile say "Managed by Grow Therapy"? This disclaimer is added by Psychology Today whenever Grow Therapy's contact information is listed in your Psychology Today profile's contact or website fields.
