Live captioning provides real-time text captions for audio content, enhancing accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments. It is beneficial during telehealth sessions to ensure effective communication between participants.
Currently, Grow Telehealth does not natively support live captioning. However, browsers like Google Chrome and devices like Mac desktops have built-in live captioning features that participants can enable anytime.
Please consult this guide to activate live captioning during Grow Telehealth sessions via your preferred browser or device settings.
Enable live caption in your browser
Many modern browsers and devices support live captioning, increasing its accessibility. However, not all browsers, such as Firefox, support it. If your preferred browser does not support it, enabling device-level features is your best option.
Grow suggests using Google Chrome when possible, as it offers the most functionality and feature-rich experience on the Grow platform.
Google Chrome
To enable closed captioning on a desktop while using Google Chrome:
Navigate to your browser's Accessibility settings by selecting Chrome > Settings > Accessibility.
Toggle Live Caption to the 'ON' position and make any additional adjustments to your preferences. Learn more here.
Once Chrome detects audio, a live captioning box automatically overlays in your browser. Adjust the sizing and location of the caption box as needed.
