Overview
Grow AI Summarization integrates with Grow Telehealth to help your provider capture a brief summary of each session, labeled as "session insights." The feature is designed to keep your provider fully present during sessions while giving you a way to review what was discussed afterward.
Session insights are available in your Client Portal and can be shared with you by your provider after each session. This feature is opt-in only, requires your explicit consent to activate, and is available only for individual telehealth sessions.
Why introduce AI into the Grow suite of tools? There are a few fundamental factors in the team's decision to introduce AI into the platform, including:
Keep moving forward: While you're in therapy sessions, your provider is taking notes on your work together to ensure they can guide you to achieve your goals. With AI-enabled summaries, your provider can ensure they're fully present in the session and miss nothing. With your provider, Grow has one singular aim: to support your progress on your mental health journey.
Always be on the same page: It can be hard to remember details and discussions from previous therapy sessions. Your provider can now choose to provide a brief AI-enabled summary after your session, including what you discussed and your next steps, so you can always be in sync.
Stay in the driver's seat:Β Therapy is about you and your experience, and you have choices. In your portal settings, you can update your consent for AI-enabled summaries or pause summarization in your session at any time.
Your sessions are secure and private: What you talk about in your sessions is handled with the utmost care. AI-enabled session summaries are encrypted and subject to Grow's strict security standards. Additionally, AI-enabled summarization models will not be trained based on your session data.
Consent
Is consenting to this feature mandatory to join sessions? No. You can use Grow Telehealth without this feature. Summarization will not be activated for your sessions unless you've provided consent.
Will I be asked for consent? You'll only see a consent option if your provider has enabled AI summarization. If they haven't opted in, no consent prompt will appear in your intake forms or during sessions.
How do I provide consent? When and how you're asked depends on when your provider enabled the feature:
If your provider enabled it before your intake forms: A consent option will appear in your intake forms. Select Yes to consent or No to opt out.
If your provider enabled it after your intake forms: A consent prompt will appear during your Grow Telehealth session or during a mental health check-in.β
Does my consent apply to all of my providers? No. Consent is per provider. If you see more than one provider on Grow, you'll manage your consent for each provider separately.
Can I change my mind after submitting the intake forms? Yes, you can update your consent preferences in your Client Portal at any time. Changes will be applied to future sessions with that provider. To update your consent from your client portal:
Select Account from the sidebar navigation.
Choose the forms tab.
In the "Getting started" section, find the transcription consent for the relevant provider, then select Edit.

Select Save to update your preferences.
β οΈ Having trouble submitting the consent form? If you see a "Failed to record selection" error when trying to save, try refreshing the page and resubmitting. If the error persists, contact our support team for help.
What happens if I withdraw my consent? If you change your consent to "No," summarization will stop for future sessions with that provider. Insights from sessions where summarization was active are retained in your portal.
Can I pause summarization during a session without changing my consent? Yes. You can pause summarization at any point during a session by clicking the βΈοΈ Pause icon in the Telehealth menubar. Summarization will stay paused until you or your provider chooses to resume it. Pausing does not change your overall consent setting β it only affects that moment in the session.

How can I tell if summarization is active during my session? When summarization is running, a ππ Transcribing indicator appears in the top left of the Telehealth room for both you and your provider.
β οΈ Important notes about sessions with minors: Sessions with minor clients do not automatically initiate AI transcription. Even if consent has been provided, your provider must confirm that a parent or guardian is present before summarization can begin. This applies to every session involving a minor, not just the first one.
Session insights
Where can I find my session insights? If your provider chooses to share session insights with you, they will be sent via text and email. You can also access them in the Therapy toolkit tab of your client portal.
Note: Providers cannot share session insights with clients under the age of 18.
