Why introduce AI into the Grow suite of tools? There are a few fundamental factors in the team's decision to introduce AI into the platform, including:
Deepen your client focus: Whether you are still figuring out your note-taking process or have a proven method, we know you want to show you're fully present with every client in every session. Grow's AI-enabled session summarization supports the documentation you must do so you can be in the moment.
Save time for what matters: Grow is committed to giving you best-in-class administrative tools — at no additional cost — all integrated into your provider portal. With Grow's AI-enabled session summaries, you can review your summaries quickly, use the extra time with another client, or give yourself the time back.
Choose how automation works for you: Owning your practice means you get to determine how you work. With AI-enabled notes generation and after-visit summaries, you can optimize your documentation process while remaining in control of how you review summaries, make edits, and submit your final notes.
Keep your sessions and documentation safe: You have an obligation to keep your client's data safe and secure, and so do we. Grow's platform and AI features are designed for HIPAA compliance. All AI-enabled session summaries and note suggestions are encrypted and subject to Grow's strict security standards, so you can be confident your client's data is protected.
What providers will have access to these features? We are currently collaborating with a beta group of therapists. Stay tuned; we expect this to be available to all therapists by early 2025. We are also exploring ways to introduce this feature to prescribers.

An example of language you may use to introduce AI-enabled summarization may include: “I would like to utilize AI-enabled summarization to help document our session so I can spend more time focusing on you. Your data is always encrypted to protect your privacy. The raw session data is secure and will be deleted after the summary is generated. I will review the content before adding any of the notes to your medical record, and we can pause at any point if you do not feel comfortable with this feature.”
Additionally, you can provide this client resource that reviews Grow AI from their perspective, including benefits.
What happens if my client does not consent?
During a session, Grow will ask for client consent. If your client doesn't consent, the AI summarization technology will not be used.
How does the consent request look on the client's end?
Clients receive a prompt to provide or not provide consent. During the session, they can pause transcription anytime to prevent the AI-enabled summarization technology from working.
Does a client have to consent per session?

Can I change my consent mid-session?
No, changes in consent mid-session will only be applied to future sessions. You or the client can choose to pause the summarization at any point by clicking the pause button. The individual who clicks pause must also choose to re-enable it.
Clients can also go to their Client Portal after the session to remove their consent, ensuring that future appointments don’t use this technology.
