Why introduce AI into the Grow suite of tools? There are a few fundamental factors in the team's decision to introduce AI into the platform, including:
Deepen your client focus: Whether you are still figuring out your note-taking process or have a proven method, Grow understands your desire to be fully present with every client in every session. Grow's AI-enabled session summarization supports the necessary documentation, allowing you to focus on the moment.
Save time for what matters: Grow is committed to giving you best-in-class administrative tools — at no additional cost — all integrated into your provider portal. With Grow's AI-enabled session summaries, you can review your summaries quickly, use the extra time with another client, or give yourself the time back.
Choose how automation works for you: Owning your practice means you get to determine how you work. With AI-enabled notes generation and session insights, you can optimize your documentation process while remaining in control of how you review summaries, make edits, and submit your final notes.
Keep your sessions and documentation safe: You have an obligation to keep your client's data safe and secure, and so does Grow. Grow's platform and AI features are designed for HIPAA compliance. All AI-enabled session summaries and note suggestions are encrypted and subject to Grow's strict security standards, so you can be confident that your client's data is protected.

What should I tell my clients about how Grow uses AI?
Our AI-enabled summarization is a process in which the audio during the therapy session is transcribed to create clinical notes and session insights, a post-session summary of what was discussed.
What can I say to my clients to encourage consent?
An example of language you may use to introduce AI-enabled summarization may include: “I’m using a secure AI tool to help summarize our session so I can stay more focused on you. The data from our session is encrypted and will be deleted after the summary is generated. I’ll review everything before adding anything to your medical record, and we can stop anytime if it doesn’t feel right.”
Additionally, you can provide this client resource that reviews Grow AI from their perspective, including benefits.
How does my client benefit from consenting to AI-enabled summarization?
With AI assisting you with your documentation, you can focus more on client care. Additionally, the session insights give clients a summary of the session and the next steps you discussed, which ensures they feel informed and clear on next steps. Sharing this written summary with your clients encourages them to stay engaged in their care and facilitates discussion about progress, concerns, and any adjustments needed to care.
What if my clients are concerned about how their information is used?
In Grow sessions, data is encrypted and stored only for the duration of the time necessary for generating session summaries. Grow holds a high bar for security and data integrity and ensures that security measures are met when using AI-enabled summarization. No personal data is given to a third party or retained to train the AI-enabled summarization tool. You, as the provider, will view what was captured and can edit any inaccuracies. You control how this information is used in the clinical notes and session insights. Read our Legal FAQ to learn more.
What happens if my client does not consent?
Grow will ask for client consent during a session. If your client doesn't consent, the AI summarization technology will not be used.
How does the consent request look on the client's end?
Clients are prompted to provide or not provide consent. During the session, they can pause transcription anytime to prevent the AI-enabled summarization technology from working.
Does a client have to consent per session?
No, once a client consents, all their sessions with you will be automatically transcribed. However, either party can pause the transcription by clicking the Pause icon in the Telehealth menubar.
Can I change my consent mid-session?
No, changes in consent mid-session will only be applied to future sessions. You or the client can pause the summarization at any point by clicking the pause button. The individual who clicks pause must also choose to re-enable it.
Clients can also go to their Client Portal after the session to remove their consent, ensuring that future appointments don’t use this technology. Preview the client experience below:

Where can I access the session insights?

What do I do if I get a bad/poor session insight?
After you submit your note, you can share this feedback directly with us on the platform or contact support via the provider portal to share additional feedback.

How can I use the note or the session summary/notes or vice versa?

What do I do if the note generated is wrong, or if I have other concerns about it?

Why do I see an error for the AI-enabled summary?
The AI-enabled summary will display an error if the recorded session length is too short. This may occur due to disconnects, a participant pausing the transcription, or, in the unlikely event of an outage with our system.
How much of the generated note should I edit?
You can edit as much of the note as you need to ensure its accuracy and completeness.
