Amazon employee benefit | FAQ

Discover how Grow’s partnership with Amazon enables clients to use employee benefits for therapy sessions.

Updated this week

Grow Therapy partners with Amazon to expand mental health access for Amazon employees and their dependents. Through this collaboration, eligible members receive six talk therapy sessions per issue per calendar year, fully covered by Amazon, as part of their benefits package.

Key Takeaways

  • The six complementary sessions only apply to talk therapy and do not include medication management.

  • Amazon employees, their dependents, and household members with this benefit must book through the dedicated directory to use their six free sessions.

  • If clients with the Amazon employee benefit have questions about their benefits, they can reference the client-facing guide.

Overview

These sessions are booked directly via the dedicated Grow Therapy Amazon employee benefit directory rather than through the general Grow provider directory, ensuring a streamlined experience. Members can choose from any Grow provider who is licensed in their state, credentialed, and enrolled to see clients using the Amazon employee benefit.

Even those whose insurance plans aren’t accepted by Grow can still use their six free sessions and continue care afterward on a self-pay basis.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I have to accept the Amazon employee benefit, or can I opt out?

You do not have to accept the Amazon employee benefit. To manage which payors you accept, navigate to the Referrals and payors section of your provider portal to toggle specific payors on or off. Changes are saved automatically once you select a reason for opting out.

Where can I find the rates?

You can review the Amazon employee benefit rates by requesting a rate sheet through the Help Widget. To learn more, review this guide. Once you access the rate sheet, locate the Amazon employee benefit rates listed under the "EAP Rates" section at the bottom of the table.

Do clients have to use all six sessions with the same provider?

Clients do not have to use all six sessions with the same provider. They are welcome to use their sessions with any provider accepting the Amazon employee benefit.

Do unused sessions roll over at the end of the calendar year?

This benefit includes six sessions per issue, each calendar year. Unused sessions do not roll over and are refreshed at the beginning of each new calendar year.

Can clients apply Amazon employee benefits to past sessions and receive a refund?

No. The Amazon employee benefit can only be applied to sessions held after a client enrolls in the program. Sessions completed prior to enrollment—including those paid for through insurance or self-pay—are not eligible for retroactive coverage or refunds.

What constitutes an “issue?”

An issue is defined as the primary concern or problem identified by the client (e.g., grief, marital conflict, substance use, workplace stress). For example, a client would be eligible for six sessions to work through a recent loss/grief and another six sessions to deal with work stress. If a client wishes to allocate an additional six sessions to their account to address a new issue, they can contact Grow support to arrange this. Grow Support can be reached via the dedicated phone line by calling (646) 776‑0587, live chat in the client portal, the Amazon URL, or the iOS mobile app.

If a client is already using Grow Therapy, they will need to talk to the Grow support team directly to apply their complimentary sessions to their account. If their current provider does not accept the Amazon employee benefit, they will be asked if they would like to find a provider who does.

If a client with this benefit is already using Grow, how do they receive their free sessions?

If a client is already using Grow Therapy, they will need to talk to the Client Billing Support team directly to apply the Amazon employee benefit sessions to their account. If their current provider does not accept the Amazon employee benefit, they will be asked if they would like to find a provider who does.

What happens when all six complementary sessions are completed?

After a client completes their free sessions, they can either continue care with their provider using insurance (when accepted) or elect to self-pay.

Clients can enter their insurance information during the initial booking flow, allowing Grow to match them with providers who accept their insurance. If the provider the client chooses to work with accepts their insurance, the client's insurance will be billed for subsequent sessions after the complimentary sessions are completed.

If a client does not provide their insurance information during booking, they will be prompted to complete this process as their free sessions near completion.

Can spouses, household members, or the employee's dependents also use the Amazon employee benefit?

Yes! Eligible household members can each access their own set of free sessions. They can get started here (comings soon).

What constitutes a household member?

A household member is anyone who self-attests to being a family member or affiliated with an Amazon employee. This could be a spouse, a child that’s not a dependent, or another non-dependent adult.

Can Amazon access my client's information or session information?

No. Grow Therapy never shares session details or notes with an employer. Grow may share anonymized, aggregate reports about program usage that cannot identify individual participants. Any information disclosure is made in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

Do I need to provide any extra documentation when seeing Amazon clients?

No. Providers who accept clients with the Amazon employee benefit will use the same note templates and adhere to the same standards they do for all their other clients.

Do I need to keep track of the client’s remaining free sessions?

Providers and clients will be able to view the remaining number of complementary sessions in both the provider and client portals. To confirm how many sessions remain for the client in your provider portal, open the client's chart and navigate to the Overview tab > "Client information" section, as seen below.

Can I charge for no-shows or late cancellations?

Providers should still submit invoices for late cancellations and no-shows for clients with the Amazon employee benefit. Payouts will be based on the corresponding payout rate for the 90837 CPT code. Note that Grow Therapy will not subtract a session from the client’s balance when a no-show invoice is submitted. To charge for a no-show fee, follow the steps outlined here.

Where can I direct clients with this benefit if they have questions?

If a client using Amazon employee benefits needs to contact support, they can call (646) 776‑0587 to speak with Grow’s dedicated support team. Clients can also use live chat in their client portal, the Amazon URL, or the iOS mobile app to contact support.
